The Arsenal team has been put under pressure to perform to their potential this season by Arsene Wenger after he highlighted its importance, else their chance of winning trophies could be in danger.

Wenger has insisted that the team must show more consistency after Arsenal only managed to score 22 against Everton, missing their chance to move up the table. Wenger explained, “You could see from this match every game is difficult and as soon as you drop your level a bit, you are in danger. This is what happened to us.”

The rumour mill has been spreading that Sol Campbell could be interested in returning to the Gunners. Arsene Wenger has revealed he’d consider signing the 35 yr old if they can sell Philippe Senderos.

A betting expert from Sky Bet explained, “Campbell has been training with Arsenal while out of contract and has impressed the Arsenal manager with his level of fitness and attitude. The signing of Campbell would give Wenger the cover he needs for centre-back pairing of William Gallas and Thomas Vermaelen.”

Sky Bet are offering 1/3 Campbell will make a return, with suggestions that he may be heading towards Manchester United with online football betting odds at 6/1, there’s also a price of 8/1 is available for Campbell to move to Newcastle United.

Online football betting odds from sky bet has made Darren Ferguson, former Peterborough manager, 11/8 favourite to step in with Laurie Sanchez, former Fulham manager, and Steve Cotterill and Gareth Southgate all at 10/1.

A spokesman from Sky Bet said, “This would be a fantastic opportunity for Darren Ferguson to get his managerial career back on track. He proved with Peterborough that he has the credentials to do the job, having successfully guided them to promotion in each of his first two full seasons in charge but the question would have to be asked if Reading chairman Sir John Madejski would want a more experienced man at the helm.”

Tottenham striker, Jermain Defoe has most certainly proved himself as a star after the 9-1 victory over Wigan on Sunday. Harry Redknapp has praised the player as the best finisher in the country.

The striker scored 5 goals during the game making the total goals scored for the premier league by him, 11. Defoe now has his eyes set on winning the golden boot for the champion’s league. Defoe explained his excitement stating, “It is a competition where you’re playing against the best, and I’d be playing against the best defenders in the world in a great competition.”

Last season, the 27 year old scored 64 goals within 177 games last season and is currently on track for beating this by scoring 16 goals in just 22 games so far.

Defoe has explained the importance of learning from the best and has said that in the past he has watched video clips on YouTube of the best strikers in the world to help improve his game. “I watched some of Clive’s goals on YouTube and it’s important to do that to learn. He got 49 goals in one season and that is unbelievable. If I did that I don’t know what I would do. I have spoken to great strikers like Les Ferdinand and Ian Wright. Wrighty tells me no matter how many you score, always try to get another right until the final whistle. I’ve got that mentality now to try and get more.”

The strong mentality Jermain has adopted seems to be working in his favour. This has resulted in Michael Owen being left in the dark, bookies have slashed odds of him being taken o the world cup. Sky bet has priced Michael Owen at 1/10 to not make the 2010 squad.

Online bookies paddy power is confident that there will be a guaranteed seat on the flight to South Africa for Defoe and is offering 1/16 that he’ll make the team.

Hull beat Wigan 2-1 in their last match and now knows that they can climb to 14th place if they win. Hull manager, Phil Brown, told Sky Sports.com “Win against Fulham and you’re in double figures and all of a sudden the pressures of the Premier League are alleviated to a certain extent”.

Fulham is celebrating their 130th anniversary this evening however their manager, Roy Hodgson, has other matters to worry about as his team prepares to play three matches in just five days. The team has already played 15 games this season, more than any other team in the Premier league, due to their Europa League commitments.

Damien Duff is expected to return to Fulham after a calf injury whilst Simon Davies is doubtful as he has an ankle injury. Kagisho Dikagcoi begins his three match ban after violent conduct towards West Ham.

Jimmy Bullard could be returning this evening after nine months out injured against his former club. A decision will be made about centre back Anthony Gardner who has been out for 2 months with injury.

Villa will host Man City at Villa Park tonight, with both teams searching for 3 points in order to stay in touch of the chasing pack at the top of the Premier League.

Both teams are aiming to capture the champion’s league title at the end of the season with clashes becoming ever more important.

If Aston Villa beats Manchester City tonight they’ll be on the same amount of points whereas if City wins it will be a much needed kick start to their Premier League campaign.

Midfielder for Villa, Steve Sidwell is expected to start after missing their last match due to a hamstring injury. Luke Young isn’t match fit at the moment so is expected to return after the international break. Stuart Downing will also miss the match as he has an injured foot in addition to Curtis Davies who has a damaged shoulder.

Manchester City will see Emmanuel Adebayor play again after his three match ban after stamping on Arsenal’s Robin Van Persie. The strikers return will be a large boost to the team as he has scored in each game he’s played this season. Roque Santa Cruz is likely to be on the subs bench after returning from injury.

The match should prove to be interesting as Man City has won 5 of their last 6 games whilst Aston Villa holds the best defensive record in the Premier League.

Aston Villa is 15/8 to win with bet 24 and Manchester City is 13/8 with bet 365. The draw is 12/5 with Ladbrokes.

Fulham vs. Arsenal Odds

Posted 5 months, 2 weeks ago at 2:10 pm. 0 comments

This Saturday London rivals, Fulham and Arsenal will fight it out at Craven Cottage to see who will claim victory.

Fulham aim to continue their recent good form against the side, as they defeated the reds in the same fixture last year and later achieved a draw in February 2009, at the Emirates.

Wenger’s team believes that his side will be more clinical in this bout, especially because of Fulham’s recent poor form.

Andrey Arshavin should see a return for the match to Arsenal with hopes for Robin Van Persie to pass a fitness test for the game. Theo Walcott is still not up to match fitness after his back problems but could still feature at some point during the match. Arsenal will be without goal keeper Manuel Almunia, due to a chest infection.

Mark Schwarzer could return in goal for Fulham, in addition to Andy Johnson, Booby Zamora and Brede Hangeland who are also expected to play after missing the 2-1 defeat to Man City last week in the Carling Cup game.

Fulham’s latest signing, Jonathan Greening, said of the forthcoming clash. “It’s a London derby, so that gives added spice, but it’s a big game anyway, and live on telly as well. It will be a great atmosphere and after our disappointing performance against Wolves, it’s an opportunity for us to put things right against a top quality side”.

online football betting odds show that Fulham are 13/2 with William Hill whilst Arsenal is 8/13 with Betfred. A draw is 3/1 with Betfair.

Sky Bet betting odds on England vs Croatia

Posted 6 months ago at 12:24 pm. 0 comments

This week sees England play Croatia and after a win on Saturday it seems hopeful that the game on Wednesday should be an easy win for England.

England appear to be playing better as a team overall but there are still some concerns amongst the fans! It seems that the fact England have failed yet again to maintain a clean sheet will affect future scores as well as Johnsons defending which has been lacking in recent games. In addition, it seems that Rooney has been left on his own whilst Fabio Capello chops and changes his mind as to who will support him upfront, swapping between Heskey and Defoe.

Jermain Defoe has had some fantastic games recently and it seems that fans feel he is not being awarded the credit he deserves and this was shown in the last game on Saturday which saw him start on the bench but then when bought on he scored the decisive goal of the match with ease.

Sky Bet are offering lots of great odds on the football this season including this game. They are paying out at 5/4 that Defoe will start on Wednesday but if he is left on the bench once again, you can still get odds of 11/2 that he will be put on within the 90 minutes and score at 11/2.

Regarding odds on goals throughout the game, Sky Bet are paying out at 11/8 for Defoe to score within the 90 minutes and for a penalty to be given and scored at 3/1. There are also odds of 9/4 that David Beckham will start which always increases the chances of a goal!

It should be a successful win for England with odds of 8/13 that we beat Croatia!
