Thursday, December 17th, 2009

After the revelations that Brendan Rodgers us to leave Reading FC bookmakers are beginning to speculate as to who will replace him. He insisted the decision to leave was mutual however in just six month it’s been decided that he should leave the club as he may not be able to turn things around after Reading appeared in the bottom four of the championship.

A statement from the club revealed, “Following a meeting, the chairman, the board of Reading Football Club and Brendan Rodgers have agreed by mutual consent that Brendan Rodgers will leave his position as first team manager with immediate effect.”

Online football betting odds from sky bet has made Darren Ferguson, former Peterborough manager, 11/8 favourite to step in with Laurie Sanchez, former Fulham manager, and Steve Cotterill and Gareth Southgate all at 10/1.

A spokesman from Sky Bet said, “This would be a fantastic opportunity for Darren Ferguson to get his managerial career back on track. He proved with Peterborough that he has the credentials to do the job, having successfully guided them to promotion in each of his first two full seasons in charge but the question would have to be asked if Reading chairman Sir John Madejski would want a more experienced man at the helm.”
